Zoya Designs is excited to offer this fun and useful service – sewing courses for all ages and all levels of expertise!  Whether you are a beginner or familiar with sewing but want to gain more skills and knowledge, or want to have a fun and bonding experience with your child while learning sewing, this service is for you! 

For the first class of any session, no supplies are required.  You are welcome (and encouraged!) to bring your own sewing machine or you may rent one with us.  Once you register, you will receive a welcome email the week of the class with all needed information and handouts for the first 2 classes.

Over the course, students will become familiar with different machine stitches and their functions and maintenance, the use of chalk, rulers, scissors, & pins, different hand seams and finishes, attaching buttons, hooks & eyes, and elastic, and how to follow basic patterns.

INTERMEDIATE SEWING AND BASIC ALTERATIONS Sewing course, 6-week

TBD In this exciting course, you will become comfortable making basic alterations to your own (or others’) clothing and learn advanced techniques of sewing and pattern making. The topics will cover performing fittings, taking seams apart, adjusting seams on shirts, jackets, dresses, pants, skirts, and other garments. Finally finish that pair of pants you’ve been meaning to shorten or that dress or shirt you’ve always wanted to take in!

Second part of the class will cover advanced patternmaking of pants, shirts, and detailed skirts or dresses. Fittings and adjustments will be performed during this portion of the class, which reinforces the alterations and tailoring knowledge covered in the first half of the course.

Prerequisites: BEGINNER course OR solid basic knowledge of sewing (know how to operate sewing machine and create simple projects)

Sewing machine ownership is not required, but highly recommended. If you have one, please try to bring it to class, so you can learn to work on it. ($30 fee per 6-wk course will be applied if you choose using school's sewing machines)

DROP-IN SEWcial Wednesdays, 7:00 - 9:00 pm This is a casual drop-in session where you could come in and sew something with the guidance of instructor. It might be a simple project as a pillow, or you need help with something you started at home. We are glad to see you! Come and create with us, socialize with another sew-enthusiasts, get some ideas and knowledge! No fee for using school's sewing machines.

Students MUST RSVP BY 2 PM WEDNESDAY. If we don't receive sufficient number of RSVP (at least 2 students), we will not run the session. Students may RSVP BY EMAIL zoya@zoyadesigns.com OR BY PHONE (617)475-0470, and pay at the door.

HOME DECOR WORKSHOP
Sewing course, 4-week
TBD We are excited to offer this course with the focus on Home Decor and beautifying our pads! We will make pillows with embellishments, like cords and fringes, including advanced patterns and fabric manipulations. We will also learn how to create drapes with pleats, valances, and roman shades.

Prerequisites: BEGINNER course OR solid basic knowledge of sewing (know how to operate sewing machine and create simple projects)

Sewing machine ownership is not required, but highly recommended. If you have one, please try to bring it to class, so you can learn to work on it.

KIDS SEWING AND CRAFTS CAMP (7 years and up), 2-day 2-day camp, TBD, email ZOYA@ZOYADESIGNS.COM for details Keep the kiddos busy with this wonderful opportunity to teach them simple skills of sewing and crafts!

This class provides an opportunity to collaborate, bond, and learn how to sew together! This course will also provide a young designer with a basic knowledge of how to use sewing tools, sewing machine, needlework, cutting shapes and patterns, and creating simple projects. This fun and beneficial class not only will teach attention to details, patience, but also a pride in creating a project with their own hands!

The Plan: Join your kids while the are creating their fabulous designs, or drop them off (some additional paperwork/waiver will be required) cost is $115, $65 for each additional sibling. If you choose just to come for one day, it is $60 for first child and $38 for each additional sibling.

No prerequisites. Just fun, crafts and sewing!

Fine print: It is real sewing with miniature but real sewing machines. While we provide all the knowledge and guidance, there is still an implied risk of being around needles, pins, scissors, etc. Let's collaboratively keep our preciouses safe!
